discovering something new

As far back as I can remember I have always loved essential oils, though I have merely thought of them as a pure form of perfume, not giving them the credit or respect they deserve. Yes, essential oils have scent (wonderful wonderful wonderful scent) and this is what initially captivates us but as I have recently begun to understand they are also vital energy, the concentrated essence of the plant, able to register vibration in megahertz. Plants can be powerful healers, I  rely on them and frequently use them in tinctures, pills and teas... so  grasping the potent medicinal capabilities of essential oils was life changing.
It was one smell in particular that brought my attention to doTerra though, Elevation... a blend of Lavender, Elemi, Lemon Myrtle, Melissa, Ylang Ylang, Osmanthus and Sandalwood. Rightly so coined the 'joyful blend', it made me smile and then salivate. It comes across as pure simple joy in a bottle. I instantly new I wanted, needed this in my life.
That was the beginning of my essential oil journey, I have since begun incorporating oils in cleaning home, mind and body. I have also discovered the joy of using essential oils in food preparation which having been a professional cook and now a Mother and homemaker is very exciting, imagine an artist  finding a new medium, the possibilities are endless. Using oils as medicine is also incredibly gratifying, whether my children suffer from a bee sting, skinned knee, tummy ache or cold they immediately ask for oil. It makes me so proud and grateful to be able to ease their suffering in a pure, gentle and effective way.
In learning about what makes an essential oil safe, pure and potent it has been reassuring to know doTerra's oils are all Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade. Each batch has been tested using mass spectrometry and gas chromatography to insure they have all of the essential components to be  the most therapeutically beneficial and nothing else, no synthetics, fillers or pesticides. They also harvest from the plants place of origin where the oil will be most potent and maintain relationships with farmers based on respect and fair trade.
Let me also say how blessed I feel to have found the doTerra community. At a time when my families financial future is uncertain and knowing that I can't stay at home forever, this was a much appreciated opportunity.
I have created this blog as a diary, I will be sharing with you the oils and how I learn to use and enjoy them.
